Volunteer

Volunteers are a critical part of allowing us to impact the lives of older adults, and many volunteers say their time here is memorable and personally meaningful. We have many opportunities available! If you find one of interest, you can sign up online or submit the form below for more information. Before signing up, please review the ISC Volunteer Handbook.

Volunteer Opportunities

Food Pantry Delivery (Mon-Fri 9:30 am). Pick up groceries at ISC and drop off groceries to 8-10 older adults’ homes. This usually takes approximately 1 to 2 hours. Volunteers use their own vehicles, and ISC provides no-contact delivery at the doorstep to keep volunteers, staff, and older adults safe. You must have a current driver’s license and car insurance.

Food Pantry (Mon. to Fri.; Generally from 10 am to 12 pm or 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm). Help sort donations, organize the pantry and freezer areas, and organize fresh produce — tasks vary day to day, and ISC’s Food Pantry Coordinator will provide direction. From 1 to 6 people can volunteer at the same time, and tasks typically can be completed in 1-2 hours.

Lunch Volunteers (Mon. to Fri.; 11:20 AM to 12:30 PM). This is a simple and fun way for you to make a difference! As an individual or a small group of 2-4 people, it takes about an hour of your time to serve hot, nutritious meals to the tables where our older adults are gathered for lunch. Our process is for volunteer teams to sign up for a single date and then consider the possibility of an ongoing commitment (monthly, quarterly, or as it fits your schedule).

Ongoing Volunteer Instructors (Mon. to Fri; mornings or afternoons). If you have an hour or two to give each week, we need consistent, long-term volunteers to serve our eager-to-learn older adults! We need instructors for 1 hour each weekday between the hours of 10:20 AM to 11:20 AM or 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Whether you have formal experience as a teacher or have a passion/hobby to share, we’d love to hear from you! Some topics may include: gardening, discussion of current events, crafts, technology (using a smart phone), and more.

Class/Activity Assistant (Mon. to Fri.; 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM). Assist participants during instructor-led classes or activities like crafts, sewing, gardening, bingo, etc. Classes vary by week and month.

If you’re not ready to sign up yet but would like to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, fill in the form below and we will contact you!
