Last week ISC welcomed a crew of volunteers from Home Instead Senior Care to launch our new Lunch Squad program. Lunch Squads are teams of six to ten people who come to ISC over the noon hour to serve lunch to our clients, and we’d like to thank Home Instead Senior Care for being first.

Lunch Squad members help with plating food, serving meals and drinks to seniors, and cleaning up, with the assistance of the ISC nutrition staff. It’s also a chance to brighten a senior’s day with a smile or a namaste greeting–and to have your day brightened in return.

With a hot noon meal served every weekday, there are plenty of opportunities for your corporate team, school group, or service club to be part of the ISC Lunch Squad. Volunteer teams arrive at 11:15 and are finished at 12:15, and no special language or cooking skills are required. You can make a one-time commitment to try it out, and we are happy to schedule regular Lunch Squads on a monthly or quarterly basis, or whatever fits your schedule.

If you are interested in learning more about how to be part of ISC’s Lunch Squad, please email Anita Farwell or DeAna Lara, or contact them by phone at 402-933-2643. It’s a rewarding way to spend a lunch hour while making a difference in the lives of diverse seniors in our community.
